It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn A. Wood, 84, of East Greenbush NY, who passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021, at St. Peter's Hospital. We would like to thank the courageous, caring and dedicated staff of the St. Peter's COVID Unit who made sure Marilyn was not alone when she passed. They have no idea how much that meant to us.
Born in Endicott NY on August 7, 1936, she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Lydia (Wylam) Swartz. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her long time partner Lawrence Adriance, former husband George R. Wood, sisters Lois Swartz, Vivian Swartz, Shirley (Richard) Haus, and Esther (Clyde) Durfee, sister in law Doris Swartz and brother in law Lou Luchetta.
She is survived by her loving children Garry Wood and Sandra (Marc) Wegener, grandchildren Jason (Caitlin) Costanzo and Chelsea Costanzo, brothers James Swartz, Richard (Shirley) Swartz, and sister Joan Luchetta.
Prior to retiring, Marilyn worked for the NYS Comptroller's Office. She was a 1953 graduate of Union Endicott High School. Marilyn was very family oriented and her happiest times were spent with family. She was incredibly giving, and cherished giving us little things any time of the year that would put a smile on our faces. She always thought of others first. Marilyn's smile and sense of humor will be sadly missed.
There will be a private graveside service in Albany this spring for Marilyn's immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
