COLONIE – Marion Dane, 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was a Colonie resident for over 83 years.
Marion was born in Saranac Lake and was the daughter of the late Howard T. and Blanch A. (Pelkey) Westfall. She was a bookkeeper for General Electric in Schenectady and prior to that she worked for the Tobin Meat Packing Company in West Albany. She stopped working to be a homemaker and raise her daughter, Gail. She was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Marion loved spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, camping, NASCAR races, helping and loving people, traveling, and loved flowers.
Marion is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Harry Dane; her devoted daughter, Gail (Kirk) Miller of Greer, SC; her cherished granddaughter, Tanya (Travis) Watson of Greenville, SC; her cherished great-grandsons, Taylor and Tanner Watson; and her sisters, Eleanor Shaver of Southwick, MA and Doris Urban of Scotia. She is also survived by three nieces and three nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 noon Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday. Interment, Memory Gardens in Colonie.
