ALBANY – Marion E. O'Brien, 94, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital, after a brief illness.
Marion was born on February 3, 1914 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Katherine Malin Henchey. She was a secretary for the Associated General Contractors of America in Guilderland for many years; prior to that she was a stenographer for the Attorney General's office.
Marion will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marion enjoyed spending time with her family, giving her and the family much joy. She was a longtime North Albany and Menands resident where she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and St. Joan of Arc Church; currently she was a communicant at St. Clare's Church in Colonie.
Marion is survived by her children, Michael E. (Carol) O'Brien of Niskayuna, Joseph P. O'Brien of Tulsa, OK, Thomas K. (Michele) O'Brien of Stuart, FL, Anne (Bill) O'Brien-Teta of Niskayuna, Edward P. (Kaaren) O'Brien of Averill Park, John V. O'Brien of Scottsdale, AZ and Timothy D. (Cathy) O'Brien of Lake George; her grandchildren, Michael (Kris) O'Brien, Jr., Tammy (Kevin) McDonnell, Joseph and Kevin O'Brien, Christopher and Kate Burger and Tiffany, Timothy, Kacey and Kellie O'Brien and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy (Robert) Benjamin; her niece and goddaughter, Therese Donahue; her nephews, Daniel Murray and Bruce Venter and her niece, Joyce Weiler. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward P. O'Brien; her sister, Margaret Murray; her grandson, Mark O'Brien and her niece, Gertrude Murray Skumurski.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
