ALBANY — Marion Elizabeth McElroy Grant, 92, entered into eternal life on February 10, 2017, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Marion was born in Albany on August 23, 1924, to Joseph and Elizabeth Davies-McElroy.
Marion was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Stuart Grant Sr.; and brothers, Joseph and Thomas McElroy.
Marion is survived by her five children, Stanley Bronakowski, Elaine DeFoe, Janet Hickey, Alex Bronakowski and Stuart Grant; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; her sister-in-law (Aunt) Joy McElroy and several nieces and nephews.
Marion enjoyed walking in her neighborhood daily, and working in her garden, growing award winning vegetables and beautiful rose bushes.
In her younger days, Marion enjoyed roller skating and Square Dancing at Dave Denny's Barn.
Marion's family wishes to thank all of the beautiful Angels, each and every one on the second floor of the Albany County Nursing Home, who cared for their mother. "Thank you all for your kindness and patience, you are all fantastic, loving caregivers." A special thank you to Marion's pastor, Pastor Rakow, a Godly man, doing God's work, for all of his Saturday visits and prayers for Marion and her family. "To all of Marion's friends who were praying so hard for her, and to all of the kind caregivers at the Beltrone Senior Center, thank you."
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, at 9 a.m. in the Chapel at Memory Garden's Cemetery, Watervliet Shaker Road, Colonie, with the Reverend Gordon W. Rakow officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marion's memory may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 645 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham NY 12110, of which Marion was an active member until her illness.
