DELMAR – Marion J. DeVoe, 65, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012, after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany she is the loving daughter of Jane Kuon and the late John Gilroy. Marion resided in Delmar for thirty years. Most of her life was devoted to raising her family and caring for other children in her home. For the past four years, she was employed with the Bethlehem School District. She enjoyed camping on Lake George with her family and friends.
Marion is the beloved wife of 43 years to Lewis J. DeVoe. She is the devoted mother of Michelle (Michael) Curtis, Michael (Terre) DeVoe, Melissa (fiancé' Lance Appleby) Jerome, Lewis (Linda) DeVoe and Joseph DeVoe. She is the cherished grandmother of Becky, Brian, Tori, Patrick, Caitlin, McKenzie, Breanna, Marin and Teagan and great-grandmother of Tyler and Shane. Also surviving are her siblings, Arthur Gilroy, Deb Morrison, Pam Ginock as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Marion was predeceased by her brother John Gilroy and her sister, Kim Kakos. Marion's family would like to thank the staff of St. Peter's Cancer Care Center, especially Melissa, for the kindness and care they gave to her during her illness.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar at 9:30 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
