Marion Mogavero

September 22, 1922 — January 8, 2022

Schenectady -

Marion Mogavero, age 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022 after a long illness. She was born to parents Josephine Pagano Cassaro and Carlo Cassaro in Pittston, PA. She later moved to Schenectady, NY. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Gerald (Jerry) Mogavero, along with her 3 brothers, Joseph Cassaro, Charles Cassaro (wife Virginia) and Peter Cassaro; and one sister, Antoinette Anzalone (husband, Kie). Marion also had a brother who died as an infant.

Marion leaves behind two daughters, Angela Mogavero and Carla Novak; a grandson, Michael Mogavero and her son-in-law, Paul Novak. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Theresa Cassaro and Barbara Cassaro and many nieces and nephews.

During her life Marion worked at the General Electric, Mohawk Letter Shop and as a homemaker. Marion lived her faith. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Schenectady, NY and later Our Lady of Queen of Peace Church, Schenectady, NY.

Marion enjoyed cooking and she excelled at it. After retirement she enjoyed bowling, traveling with her sister-in-law Theresa, dining out and spending time with family and friends. Her biggest joy was spending time with her grandson, Michael. He was the light of her life.

The family wishes to thank two of her very special home-based caretakers, Joyce Simpson and Karen Jane Caisse and the staff of Building 19 at Eddy Village Green. Their kindness and attentive care is greatly appreciated.

There will be a private burial service for immediate family only. A memorial will be planned for a later date when it is safe for gatherings.

If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
