Marion Young

Albany- Marion A. Young, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday November 19, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she is the daughter of the late Mathew and Agnes Bayer Sommers.

Marion retired from New York State Higher Education in 1991, and previously worked as a waitress in many Albany restaurants. She also loved to garden and spend time outdoors, especially at her camp on The Great Sacandaga Lake surrounded by her cherished family. Marion was an avid shopper, who loved to spoil her family with gifts, she also loved to polka, and bowl.

Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas W. Young, Sr. in 1970. She is survived by her children Barbara (Edward) James, Thomas W. (Carol) Young Jr., Richard (Gregoria) Young, David (Susan) Young, and Debra (Mahlon) Barr. Marion is also survived by her 18 beloved grandchildren, her 25 cherished great grandchildren, her siblings Helene (Jack) Murray, and Janet Kositzka, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marion on Saturday November 23rd at 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Calling hours will be on Friday November 22nd from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
