COLONIE – Marjorie Ann Emerson, R.N., 71, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 20, 2007. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Sarah D. Bennett. Mrs. Emerson was a Colonie resident for all of her life. She was a 1953 graduate of the Albany Academy for Girls, a 1957 graduate of Keuka College with a Bachelor's of Science and a 1959 graduate of the University of Rochester with a Master's of Science in nursing education. Marge taught nursing in Canandaigua, NY, Champagne, IL and more recently at Albany Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong communicant of Pine Grove Methodist Church where she wrote the church's 125th anniversary book in 1982, starring Penny the Church Mouse. Mrs. Emerson served on the South Colonie School District Board of Education from 1978 through 1981. She was an avid sports fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Marge was an active member of the Bradt Family Society which held their 20th reunion at the Desmond in July. She enjoyed spending time on Schroon River and in Chestertown and liked crossword puzzles, word finds and watching Law & Order. Marjorie Ann was the beloved wife of the late Nedwin Emerson for 37 years until his passing in November, 2006. She is the cherished mother of Scott B. (Elizabeth) Emerson of Latham. She is the cherished grandmother of Richie, Eric and Carter Emerson. Also surviving are her husband's children, Susan Milstrey (Glenn) Wells of Waterford and her son, Raymond and Stephen W. (Cathy) Emerson of Warrensburg and their children, Sabrina, David, Aaron and Laura.
Funeral services will be Monday at 12:00 noon at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
