Voorheesville- Mark J. Fiato, 53, died suddenly on Sunday, May 8, 2005. He went cycling with friends on a ride that will never end. Mark was born in Albany, lived in Voorheesville, and owned and operated Taco Pronto Restaurant for 25 years. He was the son of Kale Fiato of Albany and Salvatore (Christine) Fiato of Slingerlands. The most important part of his life was spending time with his three daughters, family and friends. An outdoor enthusiast throughout his life, his passions were motorcycling, and bicycling. Mark's upbeat, dynamic and charismatic personality left a lasting impression with everyone he met. He was an accomplished businessman, a prominent member of Mohawk Cycling Club, sponsor of the Electric City Motorcycle Riders Club and an active member of the American Motorcycle Association. Mark is predeceased by a newborn son Paul Mark Fiato.
Survivors include his three cherished daughters; Amy Suzanne, Kristin Kale, and Heather Kathryn Fiato all of Voorheesville, and four siblings; Mick (Gayle) Fiato of Boston, Martha Fiato of Guilderland, Mona (Kevin) George of Voorheesville, and Miriam (Brian Lainhart) Fiato of Voorheesville. He is the uncle and social director of Sasha (Paul) Durand, Sonya Pasquini (Brian Degener), Jared, Peter, Hayley, and Gavin George, Lacey Goodrich, and Rachel Lainhart. The mother of his four children Laura Williams Fiato also survives.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held Saturday morning at the Jerusalem Cemetery, in Feura Bush. As a thoughtful remembrance, contributions may be made to the Capital District Cancer Resource Foundation, 317 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208, in memory of Mark J. Fiato.
