Colonie- Mark M. Burnham, 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 11, 2016 at Albany Medical Center. The son of Fredrica (Hazeltine) Brown and the late John Burnham, Mark was born on October 16, 1959 in Utica, NY.
Mark enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was taking a walk in the Pine Bush or relaxing in his hammock. He was an avid fan of The Walking Dead, Survivorman, and Sons of Anarchy. He took great pride in his beard, a pride that will be carried on by his sons.
Mark was a loving and selfless husband, father and grandfather. He was a proud American with very strong political views which he enjoyed debating with family and friends. He brought his family up to always think on a different level. Mark had a dry and witty sense of humor that is evident in his children. He was fluent in sarcasm and taught all of his children to speak it as a second language.
Mark is survived by his wife of 22 years Maria (Weir) Burnham; his children: Matthew (Elizabeth), Nicole, John and Dan; his beloved granddaughter Eleanor "Beans"; his mother Fredrica (Bob) Brown; his sisters: Colleen (Alan) Jackson and Christine (David) Kennedy and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He is also survived by four dogs "that were not his."
Mark's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff (especially the nurses and respiratory) of the SICU at Albany Medical Center for their compassionate and loving care.
Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Friday, September 16 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
