ALTAMONT – Marlene R. Plant, 72, of Altamont, passed away peacefully on Friday October 2, 2009 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Robert and Louise Purtell. Marlene had worked as a clerk at Blue Cross/Blue Shield for many years and more recently with Walmart in Albany. She was a member of the Westmere Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and Voorheesvile Aqua Fitness. Marlene assisted with the Albany County Board of Elections and was a frequent volunteer with Breast Cancer awareness. She was dedicated to her cherished family.
Marlene is the beloved mother of Charlene Plant, Patricia (Carl) Fink, James (Georgine) Plant, Catherine (Walter) Vivenzio, Charles Plant Jr., Paul Plant, Raymond (Kathleen) Plant, Kenneth (Laura) Plant, Robert (Brandy) Plant and Steven (Melissa) Plant. She is the sister of Carol (Roy) Frederick, Diane (Dave) Hull, Roy (Carol) Purtell, Linda (John) Hughes and Lisa Beretz. She is also survived by Charles J. Plant Sr. Marlene is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:15 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to Christ the King Church at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
