GUILDERLAND – Marshall C. Miller, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, with his family by his side. He was born in Albany and resided in North Bethlehem for 57 years. Mr. Miller was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during World War II. He worked for 20 years at the Freihofer Baking Company and then in Fire Protection until his retirement. Marshall was a charter and life member of the North Bethlehem Fire Dept., where he held many offices, including chief and president. He was also a life member of the Western Turnpike Rescue Squad and a life member of the American Legion Ambrose J. Scully Post #1019. Mr. Miller was a scout leader for Boy Scout Troop #82 in McKownville and a communicant and Eucharistic minister at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Marshall is the beloved husband of 57 years to Mary M. (Fliegel) Miller. He is the devoted father of Paul (Ellen) Miller of Albany, Nancy (Marty) Fefer of Auburn, NY, Peter (Karen) Miller of Burke, VA, Rose (Mark) Wehnau of Averill Park and Mark (Shareen) Miller of Falls Church, VA. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Marshall Robert Miller and his brothers, Harold and Ambrose Miller. Marshall's family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guadalupe Unit for all of the care and compassion extended to Marshall during his stay.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 9:00 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, NY 12084 or North Bethlehem Fire Dept., 589 Russell Rd., Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Marshall C. Miller.
