ALBANY – Martha Anthony, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital.
Born on January 24, 1909 in South Bethlehem, Martha was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Crummell Holland.
Martha was employed at Kellips Laundry for several years; she then worked at the Thruway Motel for several years and then did domestic work before retiring in 1974. Prior to Kellips she worked at several factories in the Albany area before their closings. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching TV and playing games with her grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
Martha is survived by her loving grandchildren, Angela Anthony, Wayne (Karen) Hymes, Jacqueline Horne, Karen Anthony, Vallisa (Jocelyn) Pompey, Pamela Anthony, Gege Anthony, Zina Hymes, Kimberly (Chris) Hall, Arlene (Herb Williams) Gonzalez and Constance Morris; her son-in-law, Herbert Hymes; two nieces, Annamae Foster and Julia Van Hosen and nephew, Raymond Holland and her dear friends, Maureen Fay and Larry and Jayne Scrano. She was also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren and a host of great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Anthony, her sons, Arnold and Joseph Anthony and her daughter, Doris Hymes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Selkirk.
