Martha B. Nicolla

COLONIE – Martha (Marty) Nicolla, 83, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness. She was born in New Madrid, MO and was the daughter of the late Charles and Georgia Bemis.
Marty had worked as a bookkeeper for over 37 years. She was recently employed with Otto Oldsmobile and the United Way. Marty enjoyed dancing, bowling and spending time with her loving family. She loved life and it was a joy to be in her company. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas C. and her son Nicholas M. Nicolla.
The family would like to thank Dr. Abdul Azad and the dedicated nursing staff at St. Peters Hospital for their kind and caring support.
Marty is the beloved mother of Pat Besso and Debra De Sanctis (Joe). She is the cherished grandmother of Tony De Sanctis, Angela Cerrone (Mark), Cristina Besso, Jamie De Sanctis and Bobby Besso. She is the great grandmother of Nicky and Peyton Cerrone. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is the sister of the late Monroe Charles Lalumandiere, Betty Garzaleal and Mary Maxine Bemis.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave. Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210 in memory of Martha B.
