Albany -
Kvinlaug, Martin, 90, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, St Peter's Hospital with his loved ones by his side.
Martin was born in Jackson, NY to the late Invald and Mary (Skants) Kvinlaug
He was a merchant seaman at the young age of 15. At 17 he then entered into the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
After the military Martin met the love of his life Evalyn and they were married on June 23, 1956. They remained married for 67 years.
Martin then began working as a contractor with his father laying hardwood floors then began his own business in 1960 named Martin Kvinlaug as a
Siding and Window contractor the name then changed to Martin Kvinlaug & Sons there he retired in his 70's
Martin's hobbies included but not limited to racing motorcycle, where he was the past president in 1960 of the Electric City Rider's Motorcycle Club,
Schenectady, NY (Terror of the NorthEast). He enjoyed woods riding, fishing and camping with his family, classic car restoration with the 1958 chevy being
his most pride and joy.
Martin is predeceased by his son Martin A. Kvinlaug; son-in-law Scott Dorrance; his sisters Clara Viele, Karine Lombardo and Sigrid Struck;
brother Ole Kvinlaug.
He is survived by his wife Evalyn (Nadeau) Albany, NY; his children Eric (Deborah) Kvinlaug, Rensselaer, NY, Jeffrey (Tracey) Kvinlaug Albany, NY
and Melanie (Jeff Young) Dorrance Niskayuna, NY; grandchildren Eric (Samantha), Katrina (James) Griffin, Nicole, Mikayla (Jonathan Delano) Kvinlaug, Jason and
Evan Kvinlaug; great grandchildren Braydon, Nolan, Rowen, Adalena, Rose, Ivan, Odin and Enzo; several nieces and nephews
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Theodosiou (Oncology) Dr's and staff from the step down unit for their compassion and care in his final hours.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday January 28, 2024 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a closing prayer at 2:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday January 29, 2024 at 11:00 am at Our Lady Of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Ave., Colonie, where he will receive full Military Honors, all are welcome.
