SCOTIA – Marvin P. Allen, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Ellis Hospital.
Marvin was born on July 5, 1926 in Hudson and was the son of the late Reuben Pierce and Frieda (Felpel) Allen. He was an Army Veteran, serving in the Airborne Division from 1945 to 1948. He was an active member of the Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief and Commissioner. He was an active and devoted member of Harvest Church in Clifton Park.
Marvin is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah C. Northrup of Ramsey, NJ and Cynthia (Walter) Read of Cohoes; his cherished grandchildren, Scott (Jacqueline), Eric (Rosa) and Neil (Lauren) Myers and Stephen (Jamie) LaMora, Beth (Douglas) Martin, Andrew LaMora and Brian (Amy) LaMora; ten great-grandchildren, Haley, Keirsten, Clarissa, Cami, Alexander, Oliver, Lillian, Alison, Matthew and Sophia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Madeline E. (Decker) Allen and his sisters, Madelyn Mussen, Virginia Allen and Marcia VanHeusen.
A funeral service will be 12 noon Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
