Colonie – Mary A. Clemente Dougherty, 78, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 14, 2010 at Albany Memorial Hospital with her devoted husband by her side.
She was born in Watervliet and was the daughter of the late Massimino and Mary Ragosta Clemente. Mary operated the Elite Beauty Salon in Watervliet for over 30 years. She was a longtime election inspector for the Town of Colonie. Mary was a former communicant of St. Brigid's Church and currently an active parishioner at Our Lady of Assumption Church. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, word search puzzles, cooking and basking in the joy of her adored grandchildren.
She is the beloved wife of 54 years to Jack Dougherty. Mary is the beloved mother of Maryann (Mark) Malinoski, Jack (Lynn) Dougherty and Lynn (Tom) Washock. She is the dear sister of Dolores Baker, Carol Calacone and the late Joan McGovern, Patrick, Joseph, Michael, Ferdinand, James and Peter Clemente. Mary is the cherished grandmother of Adam (Anna) Malinoski, Aaron (Bethlyn) Malinoski, Sean and Meghan Dougherty, Jonathan and Jacob Washock. She is the great grandma "Mimi" to Lucas John Malinoski. Dear friend of Peg Sprague. She is also survived many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 11:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham at 12 noon where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Assumption Church Capital Campaign, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd. Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Mary A. Dougherty.
