ALBANY – Mary A. Mudar was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 09, 2008. Born in Albany on May 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence Gallagher and wife of the late C. Christopher Mudar. She was also the sister of the late John and James Gallagher. Mary graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1942 and was employed with New York State and Albany County for 33 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement, Mary volunteered at Child's Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of the National Association of Notary Publics, NARFE and served on the AMC Board of Managers. As a child, she lived in a house that her grandfather built on Beverly Avenue. She later lived in that same house with her husband and raised five children there. Mary also spent summers as a child at her aunt's house on Lake Champlain. She had a smile that would warm the hearts of everyone she met. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and a love of life that was ever so evident by a yard full of children that you could see on any given weekend. Her kindness was shown with everything she did. Mary had one son that she shared a close bond with and four daughters that remained in the area after their marriages. Although Mary worked for most of her life, she was truly happiest at home with her children, grandchildren and her dogs. She shared a great love for animals, especially her beloved "Bayle". She enjoyed the holidays, cooking, puzzles and photography. Sunday afternoons were a special day at Mary's house. All would gather to eat, laugh and share stories of the week. Sundays at Mom's will be sadly missed. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Mary will miss her, including her dear friends, whom she shared many lunches and laughter with.
Survivors include her five loving children, Brian Mudar, Anne Coyle, Ellen Rogers, Nancy Armstrong and Kristen Harrison; grandchildren, Christopher Coyle, Stephanie (Jim) DeLancey, Andria Coyle, Ryan DiCarlo, Jessica Coyle, Julie Coyle, Taylor Elliott-Collaso and Leland Armstrong. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Jameson DeLancey, a great-granddaughter to be born in March, a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Mary was also predeceased by her infant great-grandson, Dominic Anthony Collaso and sons-in-law, Arthur Rogers and Sandy Elliott.
