Mary A.Shields Niles

COLONIE – Mary A. Shields Niles, 82, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Valentine's Day. Born in Piercefield, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine O'Connor. Mary was a resident of Colonie for 55 years. She worked for many years as a Health Benefits Coordinator for South Colonie Central School District from where she retired. Mary was a communicant of St. Clare's Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. For over thirty years, Mary loved spending the month of August in her club house seats at the Saratoga Race Track. Mary was the beloved wife of 43 years to the late William Shields. She is the current wife of 14 years to Harold Niles. Mary is the devoted mother of Susan McFarland and her husband, William of Norwood, MA, William Shields and his wife, Diane of Tampa, FL and Robert Shields and his wife, Elaine of Miamisburg, OH. Mary is the loving sister of Isabelle (Donald) Neville. She is the cherished grandmother of Kerry Lockart and her husband, Jeffrey, Patrick Shields, Mary Kate and Susanne McFarland and Kevin, Bonnie, Harry and Sam Shields. She is the loving great-grandmother of Erin Siobhan Lockart. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 9:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to the Church of St. Clare at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden.
