Mary-Ann Gantt

June 5, 1966 — May 10, 2024

Mary-Ann Gantt, 57, passed away peacefully on Friday May 10, 2024 with her loving family by her side.

She was the daughter of the late James and Rita (Charette) Sherwin and devoted wife to Derek J. Gantt.

In her early career she was an accomplished computer programmer and in recent decades poured her heart into a successful dog breeding business that brought many families joy.

Mary-Ann lit up the room with a warm, inviting personality and loved to entertain. She had a lifelong passion for cooking, music, and animals. She could often be found enjoying a game of Yahtzee, getting lost in a good horror novel or true crime show, or listening to songs singing and dancing the night away. More than anything, she loved spending time with the people she cared about.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved brothers, James Sherwin and David Sherwin.

Mary-Ann is survived by her caring husband Derek J. Gantt, and cherished children Alexis G. Ponte, Tristan J. Ponte, and Noah F. Gantt. She is also survived by many loving friends and family members.

Memorial calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY on Sunday May 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private at a later date.
