Albany- Mary Ann Shirikian, 84, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. The daughter of the late Parr and Osanna (Badikian) Shirikian, she was born in Albany, NY on January 6, 1932.
Mary Ann worked for New York State Department of Motor Vehicle for 35 years. She was heavily involved in the CSEA as both an officer and a delegate.
She was dedicated to her family and her friends and gave time and resources to various organizations. Mary Ann was an avid sports fan, especially playing and watching golf, playing softball in several leagues, and bowling for the Dept. of Motor Vehicle Bowling League. She had a great love for traveling, music and attending Broadway plays. She held a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dog, Coco.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was predeceased by her brothers: John, James P. and Stephen P. Shirikian. She is survived by her nephew James P. (Sharon) Shirikian, Jr of Colonie; her dear friends: Barbara Stickler of Delmar and Patricia Goldfuss of Texas; her cousin James Halburian of Colonie; her Goddaughter Andrea Guetti Ohl of Niskayuna; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, July 29 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 30 at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary Ann's name to a charity of your choice.
