SMITH, MARY B.
NISKAYUNA – Mary B. Smith, 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary (O'Toole) Keaveney.
Mary was a graduate of the Academy of Holy Names and the College of St. Rose. After many years with Albany City School District, mainly Public School #26, she retired. Mary enjoyed lunches with her lifelong girlfriends. She enjoyed skiing, boating, reading, and cherished her annual visits to the Cape with her family and beloved dogs, Maxwell and Bella.
Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brother Michael P. Keaveney, and son-in-law Robert R. Betts.
She is survived by best friend and love of her life, Robert B. Fleming; children Edward F. Smith, Jr. of Revere, MA, Bridget E. Smith of Schenectady, and Andrea M. Betts of Clifton Park; sister Eileen M. (John) Silvia; grandchildren Daniel J. (Joanna) Oliver, Christopher M. Smith, Timothy P. Oliver, Brian P. Taft, Justin R. Betts, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:00 am at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in Mary's name.
