Mary C. Ulscht

Guilderland – Mary C. Ulscht passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland on May 4, 2016. She was 92 years old. The daughter of the late Louis G. and Mary F. (Maher) Marchand, Mary was born on July 28, 1923 in Manhattan, NY. Mary was married to Frederic R. Ulscht on May 3, 1947. Mary spent her early years living in New York City and then Lake Ronkonkoma where she and Fred settled to raise their family.

Mary was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was the resident of the month in May of 2009 at the Atria in Guilderland. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her daughter Cathy and her husband Gregory Lake, her son Gregory Ulscht and his wife Kathy; her granddaughter, Alana Lake; her grandsons: Kyle, Austin and Evan Ulscht and his wife Christina and their two sons: Thomas and Ryan; her brother, Louis Marchand and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary will also be missed by her granddog, Charley.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Fred and her brother Robert Marchand.
Mary's family wishes to express their gratitude to all of the nurses, doctors, and staff of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, especially the staff of the Fatima Unit and staffers Lisa and Rita for their loving and compassionate care over the last 5 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donation in her memory be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center Activity Fund.

Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 4:30 pm on Monday, May 9 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, May 11 at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
