Voorheesville – Mary Capano, 72, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday morning, October 16, 2020 after lengthy illness.
Mary was born in Troy on February 19, 1948, a daughter of the late Frank and Jesse (Jackson) Veshia. She was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1966.
Mary worked as a Nurse's Aide at Van Rensselaer Manor. She was also employed with the State of New York, Dept. of State Corporations. She was a proud employee; an ultra proud CSEA Member and Union Representative.
After many years of service, Mary retired to a very happy life of grandkids and travel with her soulmate, Homer. She was the most devoted grandmother to all her grandchildren. Mary kept a very busy schedule full of games, meets, performances, graduations and life events. She enjoyed her travels to Florida and to visit friends around the country with Homer, with the occasional, if not frequent, trip to a nearby casino. She cherished the time in her long retirement squeezing in and enjoying time with family and friends.
Mary was a Communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Troy and Our Lady of the Snow in Grafton.
Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Veshia and a sister, Ellen Veshia.
She is survived by 2 sons, Jim (Nanette) Capano and Keith (Allison) Capano; 4 grandchildren, Caysie Capano, Nic (Jen Amano) Capano, Cameron Capano and Avery Capano; her life mate and partner in crime, Homer Stark; many adopted grandchildren and great grandchildren;her surviving sister Nancy (John) (Veshia)Coonan; a brother David and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a remembrance held at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, Mary's family would like to have donations made in her memory to your preferred breast cancer charity.
