Mary L. Donato

Mary L. Donato,92, of Voorheesville, passed away December 17th, 2020 at her home.
Born October 30, 1928 in Albany, she is the daughter of the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Brown) Oddy.

Mary was a kind and giving person, always willing to help family and friends. Mary worked early in her life at Lodges Department Store in Albany and later for the state of New York tax and finance department, before settling down to be a stay at home mom. She was always a caregiver for all who needed her, including her mother and aunt in their later years. Mary was a wonderful artist and many of her paintings are still hanging in homes all over the area. Mary possessed a wry sense of humor and was always reading books in her spare time. She doted on her grandkids and great grandkids as only a world class Gramma could.

In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Donato, her son Anthony Donato, her grandson, Jason Ahrens and siblings Joseph Oddy and Helen Donato.

Mary is survived by her children, James Donato, Jo Anne (Eric) Andersen, Vincent (Barbara) Donato and John (Marie) Donato; grandchildren Christopher Russell, Anthony Donato, Destiny Donato, Joseph Donato, Caroline Donato and Mark Donato; great grandchildren Xavier, Gabriel, Amelia, Lucas, Tylor and MargaretMae. Mary is also survived by her siblings Catherine Ferguson, Beverle Sprague, Elizabeth Kenneally, Sueanne Robertson, Kenneth Oddy, John Oddy and Robert Oddy, as well as many, many loving family members.

A visitation will be held Saturday January 2nd, 2021 from 1-3pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY 12205
Social distance practices will be in effect, chapel size is limited to current NYS Guidelines and masks are required in the building.
