SCHENECTADY Mary Ann Duffy, 87, went home to the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Mary was born on November 4, 1936 in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late William T. and Mary J. (Laden) Duffy, Sr. She graduated from Draper High School in Rotterdam - Class of 1955. She received a Bachelor's degree in education from Empire State College. She retired after 25 years as a school secretary in the Schenectady School District, working at Hamilton, Grout Park, and Lincoln Elementary Schools, as well as Howe International Magnet and Mont Pleasant High School.
She was also an Avon Lady for more than 20 years. She was a singer and performer with the Schenectady Musical Comedy Players and could always be coaxed to belt out a version of "C'mon a My House".
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Denise DeCarlo (Chris Wade); her cherished grandson, Ryan Johnson; her caring nieces and nephews, Lisa Lingenfelter (Dale), Beau Duffy (Kristin), Sean Duffy and Meghan Duffy; and many great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Diane Duffy Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 22, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 23, at 9:00 am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
