Albany- Mary E. Cantwell, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2006, at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, after a courageous battle with complications from diabetes. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Eileen Luther of Guilderland, her son J. Mark Cantwell of Albany, her beloved son-in-law James Luther of Guilderland, her treasured granddaughter Caitlin Bopp of Albany, her mother Mary O'Brien and her sister JoAnne Fishbeck both of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her husband of 46 years John J. Cantwell and also her loving sister Katie Curran. Mary retired after a career with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, as well as having served honorably in the United States Air Force. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the staff of St. Peter's Hospital for their compassionate care.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
