ALBANY - Mary E. DeGroot, 106, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Teresian House, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on May 11, 1902 in Clarks Mill, NY and was the daughter of the late Victoria and Patrick Cozzy. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and cats, but most especially spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Evelyn DeGroot of Colonie; her grandchildren, Robert Finning of Colonie, Gary (Sheila) Finning of Loudonville and Stephen (Tammy) Zenzen of Caledonia; her great-grandchildren, Chad Finning of Loudonville, Amber (Justin) Alexander of Colonie and Nicholas and Kimberly Zenzen of Caledonia; her great great-grandson, Logan Alexander of Colonie and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William E. DeGroot; her daughters, Marie Finning and Dorothy Zenzen and her brothers, James John and Thomas Cozzy.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Teresian House for the compassionate care given to Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Infant of Prague Chapel at the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany. A calling hour will be held prior to the mass on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Teresian House. Interment will be at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
