ALBANY – Mary E. Hofmeister, 83, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Baptist Health Nursing & Rehab in Scotia, following a long illness.
Mary was born in Albany on November 4, 1930 to the late Frederick J. and Sarah M. (Barton) Hofmeister. She was also predeceased by her brother, Frederick Hofmeister. She was educated, worked, and raised her daughter Cheryl in Albany.
Mary worked for many years in the insurance business as a bookkeeper. She worked for Fuller and O'Brien and later retired from New Hampshire Insurance Co. Her personal interests included spending time with her grandchildren Nicholas and Zachary, cooking for her brother John and the rest of the family, gardening, doing the crossword puzzle and playing the lottery.
Mary is survived by her devoted brother, John K. Hofmeister; her loving daughter, Cheryl (Peter) Collisson and her adoring grandchildren, Nicholas and Zachary.
The family wishes to thank Mark Daley, Gus Brate, Marie King and many others for all their support and caring during this difficult time. They also wish to recognize Baptist Health Nursing Home for the continuous care they gave Mary during her short stay.
Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
