On May 10th 2015 the children of Mary Lasek lovingly and peacefully said goodbye to their mother. The daughter of Nancy Fingar and the late Irwin Fingar, Mary was born on January 5th 1955. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and confidant. Mary always made you feel welcome and as if you were the best of friends. It didn't matter if you knew her for years or you just met her for the first time. More often than not, you walked away with one of Mary's incredible stories or words of wisdom. While she had worked in various fields, being a mom was always her greatest accomplishment and what she was proud of the most. On December 7th 2006, Mary's life changed when she met her granddaughter Elise. Elise had an immediate impact on her life and the years that they spent together were some of her happiest. Mary left this world having made an impact on many people's lives and while her smile can now only be seen in pictures, the feeling you got from seeing it will never be forgotten.
Mary is survived by her daughter Desiree Duchowny and her sons Jeffrey Lasek and Richard Lasek. One of eight children, Mary was the loving sister of Nancy Snyder, Gail Snyder (Klein), Harriet Snyder, Sue Fingar (Cleveland) Homer Snyder, Fred Fingar and Irwin Fingar (deceased). In addition, she was survived by many loving aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are encouraged to celebrate her life on Sunday May 17th from 1pm to 3:30 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30pm at the funeral home.
