ALBANY - Mary Sherman, 101, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Quebec, Canada to the late Richard and Louisa Shepperdson. Mary graduated from Mary Mount Boarding School; she retired from the New York State Department of Transportation in 1971. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Sherman, her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred (Jean) Severino, her grandson, James R. Severino, her sister, Victoria Coen, her brothers, James, Francis, Robert, Richard and Patrick (Gerard), her nieces, Theresa Clark and Kathleen Ganance.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Beatrice) Frederick, her sons, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Lois) Sherman and Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Eunice) Sherman, her grand-daughters, Mrs. Barbara LaRochelle and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey (Sandra) Zelka, and her grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Dee) Sherman, twelve great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, her sister, Kathleen Sullivan and her loving and devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. James (Patti) Dott, and their family. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the Albany Memorial Hospital Staff, the Colonie EMS Squad, and all of their relatives and friends for all of their kindness and compassion shown to Mary's family during this difficult period.
Funeral services will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie,then to All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary) where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Calling hours will be Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
