Watervliet- Mary E. Friedel, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She was born in England, to the late Edward and Mary Stacey. Mary was the devoted wife to the late William J. Friedel. They were married 43 beautiful years.
Mary was a proud military wife from 1963-1976 where William and her traveled the world and created many beautiful memories. While stationed in San Vito Air Force base located in Brindisi, Italy, Mary was the president of the British Wives Club and the NCO Wives Club.
Mary was a proud Elder at Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh, New York where she was member for 50 years. She was very involved in the church, spending her free time volunteering at their thrift store on Thursdays and Saturdays where she helped create a positive impact in her community.
Mary loved going on vacations, especially cruises. She enjoyed spending her time doing diamond art painting, where she created many beautiful pieces of art that she displayed around her home as well as gifted to those she loved. Most of all, Mary cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Deborah A. (Craig) Mullen and Gary W. (Lisa Wangler-Friedel) Friedel; grandchildren, Amy (Champ) Potter, Joseph (Nicollette) Andrews, and Chelsea (Donghwa) Friedel-Jin; great grandchildren, Callie Grace Andrews and Violette Edith Andrews; brother, Brian (the late Cherie) Stacey; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funeral, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm with a funeral service to begin at 6pm. Burial will take place on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 2:30pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, New York.
