Schenectady – Mary G. (Gallagher) Smith, 88 , passed away Saturday January 8, 2011 at The Avenue Nursing Home in Schenectady, NY after a brief illness.
Mary was born in Oneonta, NY January 9, 1922, graduated from Oneonta High School and was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary of Brooksville, FLA.
Mary is survived by three sons: Gerald T. Olmstead of Brooksville, FLA, James F. Olmstead and wife Barbara of Oneonta, NY and Michael Olmstead and wife Patricia of Rotterdam, NY, a daughter-in-law Karen Olmstead of Schenectady, NY, two sisters Patricia Gorton and husband Ted of Venice, FLA and Rosalie Pollman of Syracuse, one brother Edward Gallagher of Otego, NY, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Ronald J. Smith, two sons Robert D. and Patrick H. Olmstead, two brothers John and Charles Gallagher and one sister Katherine Reilly.
