POESTENKILL - Mary C. Hammond, 81, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Albany on August 1, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret Murphy. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Central - Class of 1953 and attended Russell Sage's nursing program. She worked for the Van Rensselaer Manor for many years. She was also employed by Key Bank and New York Telephone Co. She loved traveling and camping, was an avid knitter, loved spending time with her family and pets.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Theodore A. Hammond; her loving children, Lawrence S. (Marie) Hammond, Keith A. (Brenda) Hammond, Bruce V. (Jennifer) Hammond and Caren M. (Peter) Rosch; 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and her loving dog, Casey.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. There will be no service. Interment will be held at a later date at Saratoga National Cemetery.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions can be made to The Salvation Army, 410 River St., Troy, NY 12180 in memory of Mary.
