Mary J. Lawrence

Schenectady – Mary J. Lawrence, 92, passed peacefully Wednesday January 20, 2010 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada the daughter of the late Ernest and Lauretta Tanton and moved to the U.S. as a child. Mary was a loving homemaker who enjoyed gardening, knitting, baking and most especially caring for her family. Her husband of 47 years, Herbert L. Lawrence predeceased her in 1986.
Mary is survived by her children Janet (Richard) Antalek of Naples, FL and Tupper Lake, NY, Craig (Karen) Lawrence of Schenectady and Patricia (John) Scheels of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren: Richard Antalek, Jr., Debra Rainville, Jeffrey Miller, Gregory Miller, Timothy Lawrence, Todd Lawrence, John Scheels Jr. and Rebecca Scheels, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, siblings: Jean Huntington and Anna (Donald) Ross and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her daughter Lauretta M. Miller.
The funeral service will be Saturday 12:30 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady.
