Decatur- Mary J. Quade, 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at the Eddy Heritage House in Albany, NY. Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Zosel. Mary moved to Milwaukee as a teen. It was there that she met and married her husband of 38 years, the late Ralph H. Quade. Mary and her family lived for a short period of time in Saukville, Port Washington and also Keokuk, Iowa, before settling down in Decatur in the early 1960's. She went to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Macon County Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Mary was a member of the Eastern Star and served as a poll watcher for the Republican Party for a number of years. She was an avid gardener, tending to her various large gardens at home. She enjoyed sewing and making clothing. Mary is predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Ray; and three sisters Emma Jean, Sophie and Ione.
Mary is survived by her two sons Dr. Ralph Quade and his wife Jacqueline of Albany, New York and James P. Quade of Palmer Lake, Colorado, two grandchildren, Joshua G. Quade and Zachary D. Quade both of Albany, her two sisters Pete and Toni and many nieces and nephews.
