GUILDERLAND – Mary Jane Picard, 82, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, February 6, 2011. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ella Smith. Mary Jane lived in the Capital District for most of her life. She was a 1947 graduate of Cathedral High School. Mary Jane worked for the former Flah's in Colonie Center and two bakeries, one in Syracuse and one in Albany. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. Picard and the devoted companion of the late Vincent Mastrofrancisco. She is the loving mother of Patricia (Ralph) Rio of Slingerlands, Mary Claire Cox of Delmar, Robert (Carol) Picard of Cicero, NY and David (Janet) Picard of Guilderland. Mary Jane is the dear sister of Elizabeth (Walter) Igler of Colonie and the late Henry A. "Tony" Smith. She is the cherished grandmother of Ashley Rio, Michelle (Thomas) Heffernan, Kristine (John) Myers, Trevor Cox, Michael Picard, Lauren Picard, Celine Picard, Ryan Picard, Danielle (Rudy) Klahr and Marc Barre. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren; her cousin, Jean Vanderhagen of Voorheesville and several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane will also be missed by her beloved cockapoo, "Gigi."
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
