Mary L. Rossi

Mary L. Rossi, 88, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Jersey Shore, PA to the late Louis and Philomena Portanova. As a young woman, Mary sang on the radio for the Forrest Willis Show, she was also a member of the Salvation Army for several years. Mary loved to spend time with her family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Anthony L. Rossi, Sr.; her infant son, John; and her brothers, Arthur, Anthony and Vito.
Mary is survived by her loving children; Linda (Harold) Cookingham and Anthony (Barbara) Rossi. She is the beloved grandmother of; Harold Jr., Tiffany, Lisa and Daniel; and the cherished great-grandmother of; Antonia, Connor, Macy and John. She is also survived by her sisters; Yolanda Cavalieri and Virginia Albert.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
