Mary Mozell Cunningham (Moe), 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Moe was born in Tusculoosa, Alabama to the late Lewis and Martha Hamilton. Moe was a stay at home mom and loving wife before moving to Albany in 1983. She was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, the H B Kuhn Senior Citizens center and several square dancing clubs. Moe loved life. She enjoyed talking to people, line dancing, ballroom dancing and especially square dancing. In addition to her parents, Moe was predeceased by, her husband of over 31 years, Arthur W. Cunningham, her son, Eddie (Carol) Cunningham, and her siblings; Ulman Hamilton, Odell Chamers and Odean Ganus.
Moe is survived by her children; Martha (Tom) White of Loudonville, Art (Deborah) Cunningham of Indiana, Billy Ray (Debbie) Cunningham of Birmingham and Alan (Lisa) Cunningham of Birmingham. She is the loving grandmother of, Edie, Debbie, Kim, Bobi, Candi, Lauren, Cattie and Steve; and the cherished great-grandmother of, Kylie, Reagan, Bradley, Amanda and Leona.
Moe was a resident of McAuley Assisted living for 3 years prior to going into Our Lady of Mercy Life Center where she resided for over 11 years.
The staff on Lourdes unit at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center will always be remembered by Moe's family for their loving and compassionate care. She always referred to all the staff as "her family". Thank you to all the staff at Our Lady of Mercy, who touched Moe's life, you are all angels on earth, also to the Sisters of Mercy, Sisters of St. Josephs, and Sisters of Holy Names for all their help and prayer.
A funeral service will be Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland. A calling hour will precede the service from 2 to 3, at Our Lady of Mercy. Interment will be in Valhalla Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercycare lane, Guilderland, NY 12084 in Moe's honor.
