ALBANY – Mary A. Mariani, 76, of Albany, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2005 after a brief illness. She was born in Schodack Landing and was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Slovak. Mrs. Mariani was a long time communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Mary is the beloved wife of 56 years to Francis Mariani, Sr. She is the devoted mother of Jim (Don LeClair) Mariani of Colonie, Mary Ann (Michael) Macri of Albany, Francis (Elena) Mariani, Jr. of Rotterdam, David (Angela) Mariani of Albany and John (Mary) Mariani of Colonie. She is the sister of Josephine Drevojan, Matilda Crocco, George Slovak and the late John Slovak, Eva Scarsella, Joseph Slovak, Adam Slovak and Esther Slovak. She is the cherished grandmother of Michael Mariani, James Mariani, Jr., Michael Macri,II, Diane Macri, Rosemarie Mariani, Christina Mariani, Amanda Mariani, Erica Mariani, Bobby Mariani and Johnny and Nikki Mariani. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Peter's Hospital emergency room and intensive care unit and the Community Hospice staff for all of the care and support they gave to Mary.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 8:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
