Albany -
Mary E. McGreen, Albany, NY passed away on January 9, 2019 at St. Peter's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Albany, NY (formerly known as the Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home.) Mary was 66 years old.
She was the daughter of the late John C. McGreen and Louise (Reilly) McGreen. Her younger brothers, Dr. Peter McGreen and James McGreen, predeceased her. John R. McGreen, Albany, NY is the sole surviving sibling. Mary was never married and had no children.
Mary was born in Albany, where she attended Catholic elementary and high schools. Her parents were from Rhode Island, so the family spent their summer vacations in Rhode Island and often took the ferry over to Block Island for the day. Mary loved Block Island and when she could no longer go over there, she would read the Block Island Times.
Upon graduation from college, Mary became a Registered Nurse and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a nurse at St. Peter's Hospital, The Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home and other area nursing facilities.
She retired to take care of her ailing mother, then father and after their passing, she took care of her youngest brother, James. Mary was a very caring person and dedicated her life to her family.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Peter's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care that Mary received.
Visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Catholic Service will held at the funeral home at 11:00 am. Mary will be interred beside her parents and brother, James, at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
