SCHENECTADY - Mary N. Mortimore, 70, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home.
Mary was born on February 18, 1946 in Montgomery, Alabama and was the daughter of the late, Rosco and Inell (Gadson) Murdock. Mary was a Licensed Practical Nurse serving in all fields as a private duty nurse and working in hospitals. She enjoyed her grandchildren, garden, fishing and sewing. Although Mary only had four children of her own she was a mother to many and raised them as her own.
Mary is survived by her husband, Robert Mortimore; her children, Danielle I. Harris, William L. (Shannon) Hilts, Sr. and Jeffery (Swayzine) L. Hilts and the late, Kenneth C. Jones; her daughter-in-law, Gaynell Jones; her sisters, RosaLee, Della and Lucille; her brother, Samuel; her grandchildren, Edward C. (Asante) Hilts, Kenisha Jones, Jaquan Jones, Crystal T. Hilts, Elijah R. Jones, Jaheem R. Hilts, Alonna J. Hilts, Shantelle M. Harris, Shavon D. Nelson, Tracia L. Nelson, Mary Hilts, Shareema Hilts, William Hilts, Amira Hilts; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, 1068 Park Avenue, Schenectady, NY. There will be no calling hours.
