TROY-Mary M. Nailor Pollock, 86, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at her home.
She was born on June 23, 1931 daughter of the late Leo P. Nailor and Loretta (Laura) Murray- Nailor in Cohoes, NY where she resided until she was married in 1951.
On May 20, 1951 she married Kenneth D. Pollock in Green Island at St. Joseph's Church. They relocated to Troy where Mary spent the duration of her life. She was an active field archer for many years winning local championships and 3 New York State Freestyle championships in 1971, 1972 and 1973 at Watkins Glen. In 1973 she and her husband won the New York State Freestyle A. Championship. She competed professionally for a short time and placed in a tournament at Lake Placid.
She worked at Williams Press in Menands for 20 years and then after leaving in 1975 began employment with the NYS Dept. of Education. She retired in 1993.
Mary was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.
Mary always found the goodness in others and joy in life. Mary was truly devoted to her family and placed a great importance on staying present and connected to them. She will be deeply missed by her family members who were privileged to share many happy memories, her love and presence will be forever in their hearts.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; beloved sisters Loretta May Galarneau and Carol Ann Abate and wonderful brother William Elmer Nailor. She was the last surviving child of Laura and Leo.
Mary is survived by her son, Matthew V. Pollock; many many terrific nieces and nephews from the above listed siblings, and many wonderful cousins. She was very close to her two oldest nephews, George Brisson of Georgia and his brother, William Brisson of Saratoga Springs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave., Troy, NY 12180. Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 6-8 pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205.
