Mary Palmer

GUILDERLAND – Mary W. (Betty) Palmer, 69, of Guilderland, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2005, surrounded by her loving family at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's, after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Ilion, NY and is the daughter of Mary Margaret Winsor and the late Kasson A. Winsor. Mrs. Palmer was a Guilderland resident for most of her life. She worked for the Associated General Contractors and the New York State Thruway Authority from where she retired in 1998. Betty was the beloved wife of the late David A. Palmer, Sr. She is the devoted mother of David A. (Patty) Palmer, Jr. of Guilderland, Fleda B. (Michael) Berschwinger of Grafton, Patricia (Hugo) Rhoades of Guilderland and Michael A. (Pam) Palmer of Albany. She is the sister of Ruth (Hugh) Higley of Georgia. Betty is the cherished grandmother of Shauna, Tori, Macie and Teddi Palmer, Teresa and Erin Berschwinger, Jillian, Jacob, Zachary and Mylie Rhoades and Grace and David Palmer. Also surviving are her nephews, Steve and Jeffrey Higley of Georgia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning at 9:00 at Christ the King Church, Guilderland. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). The parish family of Christ the King will gather at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ the King Building Fund, 20 Sumpter Ave., Albany, NY 12203 or the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern, NY, 965 Albany Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Mary W. Palmer.
