Albany- Mary E. Peterson, 73, passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on October 18, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.
She was born and raised in Monroe, NY, to the late John and Mary Strain. After graduating from high school, Mary moved to Albany, NY to attend the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing, where she met her late husband, Lennart H. Peterson. Upon graduating from nursing school, she went on to work at Albany Medical Center as a Registered Nurse. Mary took several years off to raise her children before returning back to work at the hospital.
Mary was a kind and selfless person who loved her children and grandchildren immensely.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Scott) Gundrum and Scott (Marianne) Peterson, her sister Kathleen (David) Hibben, as well as her five grandchildren, Michaela, Ryan, Kara, Amelie, and Chloe. Mary was predeceased by her brother, John Strain and her sister, Patricia Palmatier. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate her life will take place at 10:00am on Friday October 27, 2023 at held Memory Gardens Cemetery & Memorial Park, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany NY 12205
