Mary T. Poutre, 87, passed away on September 23, 2023 at St.Peter's Hospital.
Mary was born in Albany New York, the daughter of the late Thomas Straney, a detective in the Albany Police Department and Anna (Louden), a homemaker.
She met the love of her life Anthony in middle school and upon her graduation and Anthony's return from his tour of duty in the Navy they were wed. They cherished their time together, going on cruises and building their family. Mary's most important role was as a Mother and Grandmother, her children and grandchildren will honor her life moving forward with family traditions.
Mary followed her calling into nursing after high school, graduating from the St. Peters School of Nursing in 1958. She would later go on and earn her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the Empire State College, Master of Science in Nursing from Russell Sage College and Masters of Science in Nursing Education. She instilled the value of education in her grandchildren, encouraging them to pursue higher learning. Mary dedicated the last 20 years of her career to Hudson Park Rehabilitation Center, where she was employed until her passing, and considered the staff her second family.
An avid reader, Mary found solace in the pages of a good book, treasuring those moments of solitude.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Marie.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Poutre; children, Denise Poutre (Don Clough), Mary Catherine Kurtzner, Michael A. Poutre (Elizabeth), Patrick T. Poutre (Jennifer), Anthony Poutre Jr. (Melissa), Peter T. Poutre (Tamara); grandchildren, Reily, Arianne, Emily, Quinn, Jake and Nick.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Thursday, September 28th from 4 – 7 pm.
