SLINGERLANDS-Mary Rosalia Riley, 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, resident of Beverwyck in Slingerlands, passed away on Friday April 21, 2006 at the Teresian House after a brief illness.
Mary was born in Pueblo, Colorado on September 11, 1909 and was the daughter of Adam and Mary Cecelia Hamrock Balloga. She was a lifelong homemaker and provided loving support to her family all of her life.
Our Mother's primary goal in life was to be a devoted wife and mother having traveled from her home in Pueblo, CO to New York State to remain close to our father who was a minor league baseball manager in the Canadian-American League and a farm team of the Philadelphia Phillies. She fulfilled her role with much courage, determination and grace.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Leon Francis Riley and her loving son, Leonard Joseph Riley.
Mary is survived by her five children, Leon Riley Jr. (Donna), Mary Kay Riley, Dennis Riley (Eileen), Elizabeth Pierro (Louis) and Patrick Riley (Christine); her daughter in law, Katherine Riley. She is the cherished grandmother of Katherine Carrado (Doug), Kelly Riley, Lisa Riley Manhey, Dennis M. Riley Jr., Colleen Govan (Derek), Raphael Pierro (Traci), James Patrick and Elisabeth Riley; Richard and Keven Seraphilio, Louis and Margaret Pierro; Great grandmother of Mary Jewel, Kelsey Elizabeth, Douglas Arthur; Crysania (Christopher), Demi, Dane, Austin, Riley, Brady, Isabella, Louis, Anthony, Ray, Danny, Amy and Cari. Great great grandmother of Kristoffer and Madison.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 pm at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 9:00 at New Comer- Cannon Family Funeral Home and at 10:00 at Christ the King Church, Guilderland where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
At the request of the family and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church Building Fund, 20 Sumpter Ave. Albany NY 12203 or to the charity of one's choice in memory of Mary R. Riley.
