Colonie - Mary Szesnat, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lillian LedDuke. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Edward Szesnat Jr.
Mary graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1967 and soon after married the love of her life and started a family. After 20 years of service to the New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal, she retired and embraced a new chapter in her life as a snowbird. She enjoyed spending her winters in sunny Florida and made many cherished memories during her time there.
Mary found joy in the simplest of pleasures. She valued her time spent with friends and family camping, boating, golfing and sitting around the campfire at Sacandaga Campground. She also enjoyed cruising and vacations with both family and friends.
Mary was a loving grandmother who adored her grandchildren with all her heart. She found immense pride and joy in attending their sporting events, cheering them on from the sidelines with unwavering support. Her love will continue to guide them in their journeys.
Family was everything to Mary, and she treasured the time spent with her loved ones during their sometimes rowdy game nights. The laughter, friendly competition, and camaraderie forged unforgettable bonds. Those evenings created a tapestry of memories that will forever be woven into the fabric of their lives.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Albert "Boo" Szesnat (Nicole), Kenneth Szesnat (Lisa), Kristilyn Szesnat. She was the loving "Meme" to Kenny, Megan, Lexi, Nicholas and Anna. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
