LATHAM – Mary T. "Babe" Coluccio Hoffman, 79, of Latham, passed away on Thursday January 3, 2013 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.
A woman of true independent spirit throughout her life she was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Margaret Coluccio. As a young woman, Mary was a bridal consultant and operated Shana's Bridal Boutique in Latham. She was instrumental in coordinating the region's first bridal shows. Along with her husband, they owned and operated Muddy's in Colonie for more than 40 years. Mary was the former President of the Whitehall Little League Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays and being the guiding spirit for her cherished family.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of sixty years, Morris (Muddy) Hoffman. She is the devoted mother of Todd H. (Barbara) Hoffman, Shelley Hoffman and Holli Fredericks. She is the sister of James Coluccio, Salvatore Coluccio and the late Joseph and Francis Coluccio. Mary is the loving grandmother of Todd B. and Taylor Hoffman, Michael, Christopher and Meaghan Cloherty, and Jacob Fredericks. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. A service in Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. For those who wish and at the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Albany Medical Center Children's Hospital, 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany NY 12208 in memory of Mary T. Hoffman.
