HALFMOON - Mary J. Reynolds Thibodeau, 88, of Halfmoon, died at home on Sunday, February 5, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 25, 1928 in Watervliet and was the daughter of the late James Reynolds and Albertina Vogler Reynolds. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Thibodeau, who died in 1967. After Donald died, Mary raised their eight children by herself. She worked for a while as a meat packer for Tobin First Prize in Albany and as a cafeteria worker for Siena College/Marriott. She was predeceased by one of her eight children, Deborah M. Prescott and 4 brothers, Fred, William, James and Thomas. Mary is survived by two sisters: Anne Garrett of Latham, NY and Lena McNulty of Malta; and her other seven children: Donna (Daniel) Benedict of Ohio, Patricia (Timothy) Murdie of Tennessee, Cynthia (Carl) Capuano of Mechanicville, NY, Lisa (Roger) Wertman of Latham NY, Lori (Charles) Hogan of Ballston Spa, NY, Judy (David) Trowbridge of Halfmoon, NY and Gregg (Rhonda) Thibodeau of S. Dakota. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, plus several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was particularly close to two nieces: Leslie Bibby of Green Island and Lauren (Thomas) Dwyer of Fultonville. She made many friends from her time at Midrise Apts. in Mechanicville and Van Schoonhoven Sq. in Waterford.
Mary loved being around her family. During the last weeks of her life, despite her physical difficulties, she graciously, and with a humble and grateful heart, greeted a very long procession of family and friends who came to say goodbye.
Mary has had several boarders come to live with her from the American Association for the Blind and opened her home to others in need.
The family would like to thank ALL family, friends and the staff of Saratoga Hospice for food, information, equipment, and for all the loving care provided.
